HUNGRY WALLS

 



For more than two years, a construction site fence became a singular art exhibition. The plain plywood barrier was transformed thanks to the works of leading Czech painters, photographers, and other artists. It’s located in Karlín (Karolinská ulice) and is always available to the public. However, the works can only be seen until Feb. 8, 2021. Afterwards, the fence will be disassembled, and the works will be prepared to be auctioned off on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. 

The proceeds of the auction will be re-invested into art in public spaces. The Hungry Walls project will thus not end with a fence in Karlín.

The open-air gallery was created on the initiative of Prague developer CA Immo in cooperation with BeefBrothers and Ondřej Klíma. We came up with the extraordinary concept where a fence made of art would surround a construction site. Klíma, a photographer, writer, street artist, and founder of the Hungry Walls group became the project’s curator.

An auction fee will not be charged for these works. Transport costs are the responsibility of the buyer and the works must be picked-up in Karlín (the River City Prague complex, Karolinská ulice) by March 10, 2021 at the latest.
